Nerite Snail
Marine nerites are true intertidal-zone snails (genus Nerita — not the freshwater/brackish Neritina sometimes marketed under similar names) prized for eating green spot algae, a tough diatom most other cleanup-crew snails leave untouched. They lay small, hard white egg capsules on glass and rock that are a cosmetic nuisance but harmless — the larvae require brackish conditions to hatch, so they never reproduce in a marine reef tank. Sold under color-pattern names like Zebra, Tiger, Horned and Olive nerite depending on the specific species.
