Randall's Assessor
Randall's Assessor is the least common of the three Assessor species in the hobby — a small, dark blue-black basslet with yellow markings that hovers upside-down under ledges and cave ceilings, just like its better-known Blue and Yellow Assessor cousins. It's peaceful, reef safeWon't harm corals or invertebrates, so it's safe to keep in a reef tank rather than a fish-only setup., and readily takes frozen meaty foods, making it easy to keep once settled, though it wants a well-shaded cave system and can be territorial around its chosen den. Wild collection is rare and largely limited to Japan, so most trade stock comes from a handful of dedicated captive-breeding programmes — expect a higher price and inconsistent availability rather than a shop staple.
