Vlamingi Tang

A giant among reef tangs — a fast-growing unicornfish that reaches 45-60 cm and can flush its blue-grey body with electric blue lines and a vivid purple face when displaying. It is a powerful, near-constant open-water swimmer that eats zooplankton and algae, so it needs a genuinely large tank (a six-foot footprint is the practical minimum) and heavy filtration to handle its waste. Generally peaceful with other fish and reef-safe, it only squabbles with its own kind — but this is a lifetime commitment to a very big, very messy fish.
