Banggai Cardinalfish

Pterapogon kauderni

An unmistakable silver-and-black cardinalfish with trailing fins, and one of the few marine fish routinely captive-bred from a paternal mouthbrooder. It is calm toward other species but territorial with its own kind, so it is best kept singly or as a proven bonded pair unless the tank is large. Its wild population is IUCN Endangered and very range-restricted — buy captive-bred.
