Lori's Anthias

Pseudanthias lori

Lori's Anthias is a deepwater, tiger-striped anthias collected from steep Indo-Pacific reef drop-offs, usually 20-70 m down — and by most accounts one of the calmer, less quarrelsome Pseudanthias, which makes it a comparatively forgiving harem fish for a mixed reef. It's an obligate planktivore that needs several feedings of enriched mysis, brine shrimp nauplii and copepods a day; underfeeding, more than any other single mistake, is how keepers lose this fish. Note that current taxonomy has reclassified it as Pyronotanthias lori, though the trade and most references still use Pseudanthias lori. Best added last, to a mature, high-flow reef tank with open water to school in above the rockwork.
