The Six-Line Soapfish (also sold as the Goldenstriped or Golden Stripe Soapfish) is a dark brown, secretive nocturnal hunter marked with pale yellow stripes, hiding under ledges by day and coming out to hunt small fish and crustaceans after dark. It carries a serious hidden risk: when stressed, injured or dying it can release a toxic skin mucus called grammistin that is potent enough to kill every other fish in the tank, so calm handling, a gentle acclimation and never adding shipping water to the display are essential. Reef-safe toward coral tissue but not toward small fish or ornamental shrimp, it belongs only in a stable, established fish-only system.
