Yellow Coris Wrasse

Halichoeres chrysus

A bright canary-yellow wrasse that is the friendliest of the Halichoeres — peaceful enough for a community reef, hardy, and a willing eater. It eats pest fireworms and pyramidellid snails, but like its cousins it cannot tell "good" from "bad" inverts, so small ornamental shrimp, sexy shrimp, pom-pom crabs, and tiny snails are at risk while large shrimp and snails are ignored. Coral-safe, needs a couple of inches of sand to bury in at night, and a strong jumper — seal the lid.
