Naso elegans

The Indian Ocean's answer to the lipstick tang, Naso elegans wears a lemon-yellow dorsal fin, orange 'lipstick' mouth and blue-edged tail against a smoky-gray body. A powerful open-water swimmer that reaches around 45 cm, it grazes brown macroalgae and is reliably reef- and invert-safe. Peaceful for its size but territorial toward other Naso, it demands a very large tank (180+ gallons) with a tight-fitting lid — these fish are accomplished jumpers.
