Halloween Hermit Crab
Ciliopagurus strigatus
The largest and most food-aggressive of the reef-trade hermits — its constant foraging can knock over frags and steal food right off coral polyps, and it will kill smaller hermits or snails outright for a better shell. Best suited to an established tank with plenty of open rockwork and spare shells, not a delicate frag rack.
Usually kept in numbers — scale the crew to the tank, not to the shopping list.
