Gold Head Sleeper Goby

A striking sand sifter — a pearly white body under a golden-yellow head split by an electric-blue cheek stripe — that spends the day scooping and filtering mouthfuls of sand. It is peaceful and invert-safe, but it is a challenging fish, not a beginner one: it is an obligate sifter that needs a deep, mature live sand bed and, ideally, a productive refugium, or it slowly starves once it has mined the substrate clean. It also showers low corals with sand and is a determined jumper, so anchor rockwork, place frags high, and seal the lid.
