Square Anthias

Pseudanthias pleurotaenia

A large, showy anthias — the male a glowing magenta with a bold pale square on each flank, the females orange-yellow — and the hardiest of the commonly kept Pseudanthias, which makes it a sensible first anthias for those with the tank for it. As a planktivore it needs a mature system and frequent feeding, and the dominant male can be pushy toward tankmates. Reef- and invert-safe; keep as a single male with a group of females in a big, open, high-flow tank.
