A Hawaiian-endemic squirrelfish in red and white with yellow accents, nocturnal and cave-loving, sheltering in rockwork by day and hunting worms and crustaceans by night. Reef-safe toward coral but not toward small invertebrates — worms, crustaceans and serpent stars are on the menu — and, like its relatives, it carries a venomous spine. Give it caves, space and ideally the company of its own kind.
