Gramma brasiliensis

The Brazilian Gramma is a small, cave-dwelling basslet endemic to Brazil's Atlantic reefs — a genuinely distinct species, not just a colour form of the more familiar Royal Gramma (G. loreto). It shares the same violet-to-yellow bicolour scheme, but the transition between the two colours is broader and more gradual, giving it a slightly orangey mid-body blend rather than a sharp split. It's a hardy plankton-picker that ignores corals and ornamental invertebrates, so it's reef safe, but hobbyists consistently report it as more territorial and short-tempered than G. loreto — give it its own cave and be cautious pairing it with similarly-shaped tankmates. Wild collection has been restricted in Brazil since 2004, so essentially all trade stock today is captive-bred.
