Orange-Spotted Filefish

Blunt honesty first: this is an obligate Acropora-polyp specialist in the wild and, with rare exception, in captivity too — it eats almost nothing else and will not reliably switch to frozen or prepared foods. Even in a mature, coral-rich reef tank kept by an experienced hobbyist, long-term survival is the exception rather than the rule, and most imported (always wild-caught) individuals slowly starve on a standard diet within months. It is not reef-safe — assume it will strip Acropora tissue — and it is not a beginner fish: only attempt it in an advanced system with an established, expendable supply of SPS to feed it, and go in expecting high mortality.
