Azure Damselfish

Chrysiptera hemicyanea

The Azure Damselfish is a small, two-tone stunner — electric blue over the head and back that gives way to a clean yellow belly and tail. Hardy and forgiving of imperfect water, it is a classic starter fish, but it grows territorial with age and will defend a chosen patch of rock, so it earns its semi-aggressive label. Best kept singly or as a bonded pair in a reef with plenty of rockwork to break up sightlines.
