Striped Poison Fang Blenny

Meiacanthus grammistes

A striking swimmer with a lemon-yellow head that bleeds into crisp black-and-white pinstripes, which break into a run of spots at the tail base. Widely captive-bred and hardy, it hovers in mid-water with a fearless, confident glide, protected by venomous fangs that keep bigger fish at a respectful distance. Generally peaceful, but males spar and it can nip tankmates or fleshy corals in tight quarters, so keep one per tank and use caution in nano reefs. It may also deliver a defensive bite to careless fingers.
