Yellowstriped Cardinalfish

Ostorhinchus cyanosoma

One of the most commonly imported shoaling cardinalfish, easily identified by six neat orange-yellow stripes over a silvery-blue body. Hardy and genuinely peaceful, it is best kept in a group of five or more introduced together rather than alone, hovering calmly over the reef by day and hunting plankton and small crustaceans over the sand after dark. Reef-safe with corals, but it will eat very small ornamental shrimp, so it is not a safe tankmate for a delicate ornamental-shrimp display.
